Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the role of the extra cellular matrix (ECM) in repair and how a dysfunctional ECM disturbs the wound healing process
• Discuss pre-clinical studies, non-collagen components, and the ECM of small intestine submucosa (SIS) wound matrix, and their effects on the wound healing process
• Examine clinical implications for use, and ability of SIS to facilitate healing of a wound with an improper or dysfunctional natural ECM
